Thursday 26th November 2009 - All Good Things ....

We've been in Goa over a month now and are ready to leave, shipping Dino to Australia and ourselves to Thailand. We've been joined here by some other overlanders who themselves are resting up after one of them had a head on crash and broke her wrist.

Arambol

Having used the HUBB to find an appropriate beach in Goa to chill out on, we found ourselves at the perfect resort of Arambol. Apparently Arambol was once a major hippy zone, and you can still see some of the leftovers floating around the town. It was then a centre for the Goan party scene, but since a ban on amplified music past 10pm has been introduced the town has become mixture of all things, but is peaceful enough for us oldies to get some sleep.

Birdie

Our days here are beautifully simple, we get up, have a swim, and then spend the rest of the day eating, sleeping, reading and doing crosswords. Occasionally Ollie will have a drink as he watches the sun go down, and sometimes that will result in a slightly longer drink as the moon rises!

After about ten days here we were joined by Pete, Caf and Trev, 3 bikers who have done a similar journey as us, but set off in September. Caf broke her arm on the KKH after a head on collision with a car, and flew down ahead of the other two guys, knowing that we were already here taking on some R&R. It has been nice to be joined by some more people of our ilk, especially as the large majority of the tourists in Arambol are Russian. Da.

So this diary update will be our last until we get to Australia; we will not be taking the laptop with us to Thailand, as we will be ordinary backpackers there and space will be limited. Also we will stop recording our expenses in Thailand as it will be just a nice holiday for us! (Although an update has been made for the spreadsheet to include Pakistan and India for those interested).

So, unbelievably it is time to wish everyone a fantastically merry Christmas and a beautiful new year. We thank everyone for their best wishes and hope that your worlds stay at peace until we join you again in the New Year.

Lots of Love

Ollie, Jenny and Bam Bam
