Friday 14th July 2006 - Arrival of Thunderbird 4
Dino and Thunderbird 4
I'm not sure that Thunderbird 4 is the smartest name for a canoe, considering that Thunderbird 4 was a submersible!! As you can see from the photo the first of our canoes has been picked up by Dino. We aim to get 4, two for us and two for guests.
We have been living on the banks of the River Test for a year now and haven't really taken advantage of it so we have decided to start canoeing. This was triggered by meeting some pleasant neighbours of ours (Andy and Al and what appeared to be their better halves!) who were returning from a canoeing trip. They have given us the confidence to get out on the river.
So we have spent the last week on ebay, bidding on various canoes and kayaks, one of which we have won. I wasn't really paying attention to where it was located unfortunately, and it turns out that it was in London, Hampton to be precise. Although we were both keen to get out in Dino for a longer drive, we didn't think we were ready for London. Luckily, apart from a little swearing, we made it there and back in one piece. A round trip of about 150 miles!
We are still bidding on another 6 canoes, but hopefully we won't win them all! Watch this space for cheap canoes for sale :) |
