We Have a Vehicle!
Wow! What an exciting day yesterday! After lots of umming and ahhhing we finally decided to buy an expedition equipped 110 200tdi Defender. It comes with tonnes of kit from the nice people at http://www.kenningtontocapetown.com/. All it needs now is for me to pluck up the courage to go and drive it!
I have to thank Richard for taking 3 hours to show us all the ins and outs of the vehicle, even though I could see he was in emotional pain at getting rid of the Landy formally known as Biggles. After this Jenny took him (Dino not Richard) out for a test drive and then drove him home on her own. Sitting comfortably behind her in my automatic Corsa I was most impressed in the wiggle she managed to do each time she changed gear :)
So Dino is now sat in our allotted parking space growling at the neighbour's Discovery and marking his territory. With a bit of luck we'll take him out to the New Forest at the weekend, but his long distance debut will be down to Cornwall towards the end of the month.
Charity
We can also happily add that VSO are our chosen charity. They are happy for us to raise money for them during this adventure. Although a full scale plan regarding this side of the trip hasn't been drawn out, both me and and Jenny are delighted that this is the case. VSO were our first choice charity and I will write more regarding the reason why when I have a little more time |
